Inherited Arrogance

Liberals seem to think that because Justin Trudeau carries the last name of Canada’s greatest supervillian that he will somehow compare.  It is the ancient conceit of hereditary entitlement.  A king is a king because his father was the king before him.  Much like the days of old, Justin Trudeau holds this arrogant conceit of entitlement.

To look at him does not evoke the same sense of respect as his father.  Say what you will, Trudeau Sr was well composed with a sharp command presence.  I certainly do not agree with his party or politics but I can not deny he was a strong leader.  His son, on the other hand, looks like a hash smoking hipster.  I daresay his success in politics thus far comes from his last name and not any real skill.  Hell, its been proven that with the last name of a former prime minister you can get undeserved positions in the media as well as politics.

I suspect he will certainly become the next leader of the Liberal Party.  They hope that Justin will somehow come in and heroically rescue the party from the trashbin of irrelevance.  It is a fantasy played in our culture’s stories over and over again; it must strike a chord of hope.  Justin Trudeau, the Luke Skywalker of Canada,  coming to destroy the “death star” of fiscal responsibility and personal empowerment – very un-Liberal and therefore very un-Canadian values.

Justin Trudeau will be a stunning failure who will far short of his father’s dark legacy.  Heredity does not make a leader.  For that, I am glad.
